The guitar |
Guitar The guitar is a versatile
instrument. It is the predecessor of the piano. You can
play solo's with one or multiple voices. You can accompany songs or
back up other instruments with melodies or rhythm. You can elicit all
kinds of sounds out of it, from warm basses to squeaky, metallic
trebles. You can produce whining bends and raise up an entire carillon
of flageolets. The most ancient guitar-like instruments known originate
from Egypt. Nowadays, the electrical, bass, folk and Spanish guitar are
most widely played. Both the folk guitar and the Spanish guitar are
'acoustic'. This means that their sound is produced mechanically, by
their sound box, and not by electrical elements.
